Main Street Does Dolly Day! Beattyville & Lee County Go Pink on September 25

Get ready for big hair, bright colors, rhinestones, butterflies and plenty of pink!  Beattyville and Lee County are celebrating Dolly Day on Friday, September 25, 2026, with a community-wide day of music, fun and kindness inspired by Appalachian icon Dolly Parton.

Hosted by Beattyville Main Street and Beattyville/Lee County Tourism, Dolly Day is growing into much more than an evening event. Local schools, restaurants, businesses, the farmers market and even our community's porch geese are getting involved!

Visitors are invited to come spend the afternoon and evening in Beattyville, wear a little pink, support our local businesses and join us for a celebration that's equal parts Dolly, small-town fun and Appalachian hospitality.

Dolly Day Starts at Lee County Schools

The Dolly fun begins before the final school bell rings!

Lee County Schools are joining the celebration on September 25, encouraging students, teachers and staff to come dressed in their Dolly best.

Think big hair, bright colors, rhinestones, sparkles and plenty of pink. It's a fun way for students and staff to join the festivities before Dolly Day moves into Downtown Beattyville that evening.

From school hallways to Main Street and the Town Square, Lee County is going Dolly for the day!

Downtown Restaurants Join the Fun

Come downtown early and make an evening of it because our local restaurants are joining Dolly Day, too.

The fun kicks off at 5:30 PM at Herman's Brew with Dolly Trivia. Grab something to eat or drink, test your Dolly knowledge and see just how much you know about her music, movies and remarkable career before heading to the Town Square.

Las Dos Sisters Beattyville is also getting into the Dolly spirit with two specialty drinks created just for the celebration. Adults can order a Backwoods Barbie, while the kids can enjoy a Smoky Mountain Sparkle.

Other downtown businesses and restaurants are encouraged to join the fun with Dolly-themed food and drink specials, pink decorations, storefront displays or their own creative Dolly touches.

So come hungry! Grab dinner downtown, try a Dolly-inspired special, shop local and then walk over to the Town Square for the evening's entertainment.

Music & Open Mic at Town Square

At 6:30 PM, the celebration moves to the Beattyville Town Square for music and an open mic featuring Tina Taylor's Dolly Tribute.

Come ready to listen, sing along and enjoy a fun Friday night downtown with friends, family and neighbors.

And don't just come to watch—dress the part!

Pull out the pink, fringe, boots, sequins, rhinestones and big hair for the Dress Like Dolly Contest. Come in your Dolly best and see who earns the title of “Most Dolly!”

Do Something Dolly

Dolly Day isn't only about country music, big hair and rhinestones. At the heart of the celebration is something even more important: kindness.

Throughout the evening, pick up a “Do Something Dolly” card and use it as your reminder to do something kind for someone else.

Help a neighbor. Give someone a compliment. Buy someone's coffee. Hold the door. Make somebody smile. Small acts can make a big difference.

Visitors can also color a butterfly to help create a special Butterfly Banner celebrating Dolly, bringing together individual pieces from throughout the community into one colorful display.

Bring a Children's Book & Help Build Dreams

Dolly's passion for children's literacy is another important part of the day.

The Locally Made Farmers Market in Downtown Beattyville will host a Children's Book Drive, and everyone is encouraged to bring a new children's book to donate for local kids.

Books have the power to introduce children to new places, new ideas and bigger dreams. Donating one is a simple way to spread a little Dolly-style kindness while helping a child in our own community.

Don't Miss the Dolly Day Porch Goose Chase!

Even Beattyville and Lee County's porch geese are getting a Dolly makeover!

Local Porch Goose owners are invited to dress their goose in its very best Dolly-inspired costume for the Dolly Day Beattyville & Lee County Goose Chase.

We're talking blonde wigs, pink heart-shaped sunglasses, rhinestones, fringe, cowboy boots—the more Dolly, the better!

Entries are due to Teresa Mays at tmays@beattyville.org or any Beattyville Main Street board member by September 11. Community voting begins September 14, and the winner will be announced on Dolly Day, September 25.

Best of all, the winning Dolly goose takes home a $50 cash prize.

What started as a fun way to celebrate Dolly is turning into a day that reaches throughout the community.

Dress up for school. Decorate your storefront. Dress your porch goose. Donate a children's book. Eat at a local restaurant. Order a Dolly-inspired drink. Wear pink. Sing a song. Complete an act of kindness. Or simply come downtown and enjoy the fun.

Dolly Day celebrates many of the things we love about our Appalachian home—music, creativity, humor, generosity and taking care of our neighbors.
