City of Beattyville Awarded $750,000 Federal Grant for Historic Preservation and Disaster Recovery
Beattyville, KY — The City of Beattyville has been awarded $750,000 in federal funding through the Fiscal Year 2025 Emergency Supplemental Historic Preservation Fund (ESHPF) administered by the National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
The grant will support disaster recovery and preservation efforts for two city-owned historic properties: the WPA Building and the Yellow House. Both buildings are important contributors to Beattyville’s historic downtown and long-term revitalization efforts.
“This funding represents a tremendous investment in our community,” city officials said. “The restoration of these historic structures will help preserve Beattyville’s heritage while supporting economic development, tourism and downtown resilience following recent flood events.”
The City of Beattyville is a state and nationally accredited Main Street community, recognized for its commitment to historic preservation, downtown revitalization, and community-driven economic development.
Mayor Scott Jackson expressed appreciation to the National Park Service, Congressman Hal Rogers, State Representative Tim Truett, and Senator Brandon Smith for their continued support of Beattyville, and also thanked Teresa Mays (Beattyville Main Street Director), Chris Back and Jennifer McIntosh (KRADD) for their hard work in preparing this grant application, along with Sally Gilbert, City Clerk, for her ongoing support of KRADD’s administration of this grant.
Mayor Jackson thanked the City’s Main Street Director, Tourism Director, KRADD, and USDA Representatives, for continually pursuing grant opportunities such as this one, noting that no local match is required and that the funding allows the City to reinvest in historic properties that are vital to Beattyville’s future.
