Beattyville Main Street/City of Beattyville proudly returned home from the annual Kentucky Main Street Awards Banquet held yesterday in Midway, Kentucky, with three special recognitions celebrating the community's ongoing commitment to downtown revitalization and historic preservation.

Beattyville received the “Best Public Relations Promotion Award” for its Beattyville Reimagined video project. The video was originally prepared for a visit by Major General Jason Kelly of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that highlighted the history of Beattyville, the community’s challenges, accomplishments and our vision for the future, which includes the preservation of two historic buildings that will serve as anchor properties within the Beattyville Historic District.

In addition to the award, Teresa Mays was recognized for 10 years of service in her position as the Main Street Director and Economic Development Director for the City of Beattyville. Teresa has also served on the Main Street board since 2008.Beattyville Main Street, also known as the Downtown Beattyville Alliance, was honored for 20 years of participation in the Kentucky Main Street Program. Accepting that award was Allen Begley, Chairman of Beattyville Main Street, who has served on the Main Street Board for the entire 20 years! Thank you Allen.

"We are honored to receive these recognitions and proud of what our city and community has accomplished," said Mays. "These awards reflect the dedication of our board members, business owners, city officials, and community partners who continue to believe in Beattyville's future. We appreciate this recognition, it inspires us to continue moving forward."

Beattyville Main Street extends special appreciation to Kentucky Main Street State Coordinator Kitty Dougoud for her guidance and support over the years. The organization also thanks Mayor Scott Jackson and the Beattyville City Council for their continued support of the Main Street Program and its efforts to preserve, promote, and strengthen downtown Beattyville.
